Category:   Pottery
Description:   Mended from two pieces, one small fragment does not join. Lower part of large pot. Flat bottom, slightly projecting. Immediately above it is a small clay spout corresponding to an opening pierced through the wall of the pot; in it is a small bronze tube, fitting the inner opening, but smaller than the spout outside, held in place and made practicable by some brown sticky substance, heavily applied on the outside (pitch?).

Pinkish-buff clay. Buff slip streaked with brown.

Painted on the outside of the vessel, in dull black, mostly worn off: ΑΝΤΙΟΧ
ΧΧ

ADDENDA During mending five more fragments found, of which two join. One of the joining fragments gives a bit of the rim with a circular hole just below the lip. The pot is shown by this fragment to be a large open bowl. Two other fragments of rim also found, which join each other but not the pot; and two fragments of the body, one joining, one not.

Restored in plaster.
