Small globular vase; high stem finished smooth; no base; the stem is now pierced through from top to bottom; may have been attached to a base. Fine pinkish-buff clay. Dull black glaze. ADDENDA Subsequently identified as a knob of an amphora lid. Cf. JHS 31 (1911), p. 276, fig. 1, and p. 277, I (Berlin Painter's name piece, Berlin 2160, has a lid which is black, with pomegranate-shaped knob). |
