| Description: Head of a male child. Worn all over, polished surfaces preserved only on proper right side of face. Right ear, nose and lips barely preserved. Large dowel hole under chin at proper left side for head in order for the head to be tilted to the left (sleeping?). On top of head, a circular cutting filled with iron. Chubby face, hair combed forward, two locks on forehead, one over each temple. Eyes closed, mouth slightly opened. Left ear probably never sculpted. Preserved drill marks for nostrils, and at right corner of lips. Rest of face and hair sculpted with a chisel. Fine grain sparkling white marble. |
