| Description: | Broken off through ankles; lion's head broken off. Tree trunk (?) support broken off near base. Low plinth with heavy moldings above and below on front and sides. Rough finished with flat chisel on back. Feet suggest weight on left leg. At right corner a sitting lion with his lifted right paw resting on a trapezoidal object carved only on the front, perhaps a bull's head with nose up, horns down. Feet finished smooth, the rest chisel-sketched. Pentelic marble. Cf. Hesperia 81 (2012), p. 338, n. 152. | |
