Fills from construction and reconstruction of a house. "Brown House" = House A (RSY Hesp. 20) (and pit under Layer 4) in the industrial area west of the Areopagus.
Under the original floor of this house ... Second half of the 5th. c. B.C ... Under the original floor of this house were sherds including two red figured pieces (P 17137, P 19880). The filling of the floor levels of the house after its plan was changed and it was reconstructed yielded fragments of various coarse amphoras and black glazed table ware; four sherds incised with the letter kappa suggest that this is the initial of the owner of the house of the second period.

| Plundered Chamber Tomb. (Tomb XII). A few meters SE of the great white marble altar. The chamber is an irregular rectangle, oriented roughly N-S, with dromos leading in at a very gentle slope from the ... LH III A ... A very few sherds and fragments of bone were recovered from the upper levels of the collapsed bedrock with which it was filled.
It seems probable that the tomb collapsed before burials were made in it (the lower 1.80m of the tomb contained only collapsed bedrock and no sherds.) and perhaps the dromos may have been used as a sacrificial pit of some sort |

Among the pottery, there was about 40% of earlier sherds from the 8th and 7th centuries B.C. and of Corinthian-ware (9.7%).
