a) Full height of block preserved with top of finial mended on. Broken away at left. Surfaces for joining at right and bottom. Cyma reversa crown pediment. Incised lines on vertical face of raking geison ... 23 September 1969 ... Incised lines on vertical face of raking geison divide surface into three fasciae. b) Broken on both sides. Full height of block preserved. Geison very faintly incised like fragment a) but without raised surfaces.

[Agora Object] A 3323: Cornice Fragment: Ionic

Preserved height is probably close to original height, not much worn on top to judge for dowel leading. In top at 0.30m. from right side and 0.29m. from present front, 0.22m. from present back, a dowel ... August 1961 ... The small size of the dowels would be unusual for a geison of a building of any size. Since so little (max. 0.055m.) of the projection in front of the molding is preserved, one cannot be sure this was a geison of a building. ... After examination of the single remaining geison block on the site of the Temple of Athena at Sounion it seems beyond reasonable doubt that this piece is not only a geison but actually one of the Temple of Athena series.

Intact. Head of triglyph battered; top surface chipped around cuttings for T-clamps. Doric frieze block, consisting of triglyph, backer, and backer for adjacent metopes. Cuttings for T-clamps on each joining ... 23 July 1981 ... On top surface, setting line for geison 0.208m. from left edge, with pry hole for geison 0.245m. from left edge.
