Mended from twenty-seven fragments, a few gaps restored; slight burning.
Rounded bottom. Lower wall pared. Traces of glaze near handle on rim. Hard, brown household fabric (7.5YR 5/4).

Handle round in section, with slight groove in top, terminates over mouth of vessel in moldmade lion head. White paint on lion. Very pale brown ... Early 3rd century? |
Mended from fourteen fragments, small chips missing; burned.
Flat underside with string marks. Irregular wall, slightly concave near base. Handles tightly folded. Hard, light brown fabric (7.5YR 6/4) ... 300-270 ... Nearly identical: P 18576 (Agora XII, no. 1571, p. 347, pl. 69) and P 18577 (Young 1951b, nos. 7:10, 11, p. 123 [B 19:6]).
Similar but with no trace of glaze preserved: P 18578 and P 18579 (Young 1951b, nos. 7:11, 12 [B 19:6]), P 28493 (Q 20:4). |
