Caskey 1960, no. 1, pp. 168--172, pls. 54, 55) and a large kantharos from Metaponto (Giannotta 1983, p. 50, pl. XXXI). A ribbed body interrupted by a plain horizontal band with West Slope decoration is also a common feature of Plakettenvasen (see Dohrn 1985, pls. 67--75).
For the combination of ribbing and a painted ovolo see Forti 1965, pl. XXIII:c (Gnathia ware, from Bari). The shape may have been something like ibid., pl. XXVI:b, a large skyphos with vertical handles. |
