Inside and out a thick fairly lustrous glaze ... 14 March 1934 ... Over this the outside of the rim is painted red. Outside of rim seems not to have been slipped before the red was applied. The red on white occurs only under the keel. ... It is quite different from the matte white slip found on some of the early Roman lamps, but the technique of red on white is similar.
