Cistern (and passage) on the north slope of the Areopagus. Fill badly disturbed in modern and Turkish times. The few ancient sherds seem to be chiefly early Roman-1st c. B.C. (p. 256).

Upper fill was early Roman dated by AWP to the 1st c. A transitional fill was later assigned to the upper level.

Use filling of first half of 1st c.; dumped filling of late 1st c.(?). This well, near its mouth, cuts off the end of the upper passage of the cistern at 53/Ε. Subdivisions:
